The JAF master is designed as an ultra-light and compact shortscale headless thinline archtop electric guitar with 24 frets and a short scale. It combines magnetic pickups with contact pickups in sensible places in the body and neck.
This combination enables both the integration of acoustic elements into the sound and the recording of interaction with the instrument.
The electronics are mainly controlled by knobs and blend potentiometers, while the concept of multiple channels and blending different sounds is continued on the pedal board.
The name JAFmaster is derived from the initials of the guitar makers involved – Johannes, Adam and Frank – who are all masters of their craft.
The construction process of the JAFmaster is also accompanied on the EGB’s social media channels: https://www.facebook.com/egbcommunitybuild
Updates on the construction and becoming of is also documented on christophgruber.com/jafmaster

The Beginning / Vienna, June 2017
“For an instrumentalist it is very important to have the oportunity to communicate with the people, who are actually building the Instruments.
EGB is supporting and making the connection between the musician and the instrument stronger through this creative process. This is a great way to develope the guitar, but also to support the music, the inspiration, and the way of playing guitar.”
Elena Todorova, 2017
The guitar is progressing, with Martin Fant is finishing the hardware.
